BIOPEP-UWM: Report

ID 6990
Name potential coeliac toxic peptide (extended motif)
sequence
PQNPSQQQPQEQVP

Function:
Extended motifs were defined as the peptide sequences containing the toxic motifs. They were extended by means of including neighbouring amino acid residues selected from the alpha-gliadin sequence.

Additional information:
Coeliac disease is a permanent intolerance to the gluten or storage proteins found in some cereals. According to De Ritis and coworkers, small sequences of amino acids are common to the peptides linked with the toxicity. It has also been suggested that Tyr-containing motif is also associated with toxicity.
Peptide derived from apha-gliadin.
